Bed Sores

Bed sores are also called pressure sores or pressure ulcers. Prolonged pressure on the skin causes these injuries. Bed sores mostly develop on skin that covers bony areas of the body, such as the heels, ankles, hips, and tailbone. Most at risk of bed sores are people with a medical condition that limits their ability to change positions, requires them to use a wheelchair or confines them to a bed for a long time. Bed sores can develop quickly and are often difficult to treat.

Bed Sores, pressure sores or pressure ulcers. Treatment of bed sores using Recovery by NeoGenesis.Pressure ulcers occur due to pressure applied to soft tissue resulting in completely or partially obstructed blood flow to the soft tissue. Shear is also a cause, as it can pull on blood vessels that feed the skin. Other factors can influence the tolerance of skin for pressure and shear, thereby increasing the risk of pressure ulcer development. These factors include protein-calorie malnutrition, microclimate of the skin, such as wetness caused by sweating or incontinence, diseases that reduce blood flow to the skin, such as arteriosclerosis, or diseases that reduce the sensation in the skin, such as paralysis or neuropathy. The healing of pressure ulcers may be slowed by the age of the person, medical conditions, such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes or infection, smoking, or medications such as anti-inflammatory drugs.

Solution – Several things can help prevent some bed sores and help with healing. Shifting the weight of the body is important to relieve the pressure. Proper nutrition, hydration, and exercise are critical to healing the wounds.

Twice daily application of NeoGenesis Recovery to the wound helps to create a moist environment with growth factors that are involved in the healing of wounds. Daily use of Recovery serum, or application when the wound dressing is changed, will help to create a better environment for healing.

Reviews:

A part of my weekly schedule is devoted to caring for those at the end of life. During this phase of life, these patients are often completely bed-bound. Pressure sores are not that uncommon even with the best comfort measures. As a skincare professional and a huge advocate of NeoGenesis, I introduced the Recovery Serum  (spray form) to ease and expedite the healing of the bedsores. Although I was sure it would help, I did not expect to see results as quickly as I did. Literally within 24 hours, we noticed the healing taking place. We now keep NeoGenesis’ amazing Recovery spray on hand at all times! I would never want to be without it. Thank you NeoGenesis!”  ~ TL
